Termite & Beetle Fumigations
When termite infestations are severe or widespread, tent fumigation is often the most effective solution. TAPS Termite has been providing professional fumigation services throughout Santa Clara County since 1969. Our licensed technicians handle every step of the process with care and precision.
What to Expect During Fumigation
- Your home will be tented and sealed with a fumigation tarp
- A licensed fumigant (Vikane gas) is introduced to penetrate all wood members
- The fumigant eliminates drywood termites throughout the entire structure
- After the required exposure period, the tent is removed and the home is aerated
- A clearance test is performed before you return home
When is Fumigation Necessary?
Fumigation is typically recommended when:
- Drywood termite infestations are widespread throughout the structure
- Multiple areas of the home are infested and spot treatments are not sufficient
- The infestation is in inaccessible areas of the structure
- Previous spot treatments have not been effective
Not Sure if Fumigation is Right for You?
TAPS Termite offers free inspections to assess the extent of your infestation and recommend the most appropriate treatment. In many cases, our stay-at-home alternatives may be sufficient. We'll give you an honest assessment.

Orange Oil
Orange Oil is made from the oily substance found in the rinds of oranges. It is used in many household cleaning solutions and found in many of our body care products. Orange oil's chemical name is D-limonene — a chemical found in various plants, flowers and trees. It is an entirely renewable resource and is a by-product of the manufacturing of orange juice.
In terms of long-term efficacy, there is no magic cure to rid your life of termites forever. Termites are over 100 million years old and will likely be around long after humans. No matter what treatment is chosen, there are many ways termites can find their way back into your home. The best way to deal with termites is to think of the treatment as ongoing maintenance.
Borates
Borates are products that are useful for eliminating current infections or infestations. They are also versatile in that some can be used as an effective preventative treatment for wood. Borates, when applied topically to wood, penetrate deep into the object through diffusion. The application can remain effective for as long as the treated wood is kept away from flowing water.
Target pests can include subterranean, drywood and dampwood termites, carpenter ants and various species of wood-boring beetles. These can be ideal as they are manufactured with more concern for the environment than many other compounds.
